If you actually think about it, cricket is the only game where a player can actually yawn and scratch his ass while waiting for something to happen. Name one spectator sport where this can happen. And I'm not making this up. I've seen it happen with my own eyes. If you actually think about it, nothing much happens most of the time in cricket. Think about it really hard. What's the part you're actually interested in? Let's break this up
1) Time taken between overs (15%)
2) Time taken for field placements (15%)
3) Time taken by the bowler for his runup (15%)
4) Other random, arbit and useless stuff (25%)
So the part that you paid to see, really, happens only for 30% of the time. Compare this against, something like football or hockey where the action is relentless. In my opinion, these are true spectator sports. Not cricket. Let cricket be for random purists who applaud straight batted shots, wear suits and eat strawberries while watching sport. Give us common people something better. Start playing football. Or hockey. It's already our national sport.
